Los Angeles did not play the role of a favorite at home. From the second quarter on, Sacramento took over the game, led by the game’s leading scorer De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, who has already notched his 20th triple-double of the season. The Kings won convincingly 123:107.

The Clippers were only favored in the first quarter

The home team went into the game knowing that they are one of the best teams in the NBA on their home floor. That’s why they were the paper favorite in this game. At the beginning they were able to fulfill this role and won the first quarter by three points, but in the following passages the away team took over the game.

The home team practically gave up shooting. Kawhi Leonard and James Harden scored 20 points each, which was not enough for the Kings. Sacramento dominated the second quarter by 10 points and kept increasing the lead.

Domantas Sabonis made history

Sacramento was led by the game’s leading scorer, De’Aaron Fox, who saddled the Clippers with 33 points. And Domantas Sabonis had a big part in the clear-cut outcome of the game for the Kings. He notched his 20th triple-double of the season, once again significantly outpacing the chasing leader of that statistic from the last two seasons, Nikola Jokic.

Sabonis scored 17 points this time, then dominated under the basket with 15 rebounds. He recorded 12 successful assists and also grabbed 3 rebounds. In addition, he became only the 6th player in NBA history to accumulate at least 20 triple-doubles in one season.

Before him, only Oscar Robertson (5 times), Russell Westbrook (4 times), Wilt Chamberlain (2 times) and James Harden and Nikola Jokic did it once. For Sabonis, this is the 52nd such feat in his career. And he is only 7 triple-doubles away from equaling Larry Bird’s record, which is 10th on the historical charts.

Sacramento, after trailing in the first quarter, won every subsequent passage of play and always scored at least 31 points. It gradually increased its lead to a disparate 16 points. The ambitious Sacramento team notched its 33rd win of the season, on the soil of a strong opponent.

They jumped to 5th place in the Western Conference table ahead of New Orleans. Sabonis also broke the jinx in that if he scores double digits in three statistical indicators, his team does not win.
