Apart from the unfulfilled goal of staying in the elite group of the Nations League, the Czech national team, or rather Tomáš Vaclík, took away one more unpleasantness from the duel with Switzerland. It was a shoulder injury. The consequence? The Czech national team will not play for two to three months.
Thirty-three-year-old goalkeeper Vaclik played only the first half against Switzerland. It was there that he dealt with his shoulder and was subsequently replaced by Jindřich Staněk in the second act.
And according to totalfootball.gr, the goalkeeper of Greek Olympiakos Piraeus will not play for at least two to three months. However, the reigning Greek champion has already found a replacement in Alexandros Paschalakis.
However, no official news regarding Vaclik has been released by Olympiakos so far. According to Greek media, however, he will undergo surgery.
He could return to the game at the end of this year. It is clear that the Ostrava native will have to take a longer break.
Staněk kept a clean sheet in the second half, but the Czech national team did not score another goal and lost to Switzerland 1:2.
Jaroslav Šilhavy’s charges had a great opportunity to equalise in the 61st minute when Tomáš Souček converted a penalty kick. However, he missed it and the Czech team did not take advantage of the other chances created and did not stay in the elite category.
In Group 2, the Czech Republic earned only four points in six matches, with an opening home win over Switzerland and a 1-1 draw in Spain. After that, however, the national team failed to get results in all the other matches.
