The well-known BBC television channel has apologised for the recent events that happened during the live coverage of the FA Cup match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton. In addition to the apology, it has already launched an investigation into who caused the scandal.
The match itself was interrupted by the sound of a woman moaning from a pornographic film. Football commentator Gary Lineker later posted a picture of a mobile phone which he said was taped to the back of the studio.
Lineker initially tried to ‘play the whole thing for keeps’ during the broadcast, when he was covering the duel in the studio at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton with presenters Paul Ince and Danny Murphy.
And as the BBC reports on its website, when he turned to his colleague and former England striker Alan Shearer in the commentary booth, he said
“We apologise to any viewers who were offended during tonight’s live football coverage,” the BBC said.
Funny sabotage
Lineker, on the other hand, isn’t making too much of the situation, quite the opposite. He sees the disruption of the broadcast by the sounds of a pornographic film as a humorous sabotage.
“As sabotage it was quite funny. If you had told me this morning that I would be on Newsnight tonight talking about the porn scandal, I would have been horrified,” Lineker said with a laugh.
Anyway, Liverpool managed to win the replay 1-0, thanks to a 13th minute Harvey Elliott goal.
