Liverpool’s demolition of Manchester United was masterminded by Salah. Reds fans pleaded for Solskjaer to stay
Not even the most optimistic of Liverpool fans expected this. The Reds smashed their great rival Manchester United 5:0 on their pitch, with Mohamed Salah scoring a hat-trick.
Not even the most optimistic of Liverpool fans expected this. The Reds smashed their great rival Manchester United on their pitch 5: 0, with a hat-trick by Mohamed Salah.
If Manchester United were looking to get off to a flying start, it didn’t work out at all. Already in the 5th minute he sent the Reds into the lead after an assist from Salah Keita. And it got worse. The 13th minute came and Alexander-Arnold’s centre was slipped into the net by Jota.
Then came the one man show of the Premier League’s best player at the moment and one of the best players in the world at the moment. Mohamed Salah first broke through in the 38th minute, adding a second goal in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time.
Quite possibly Cristiano Ronaldo could have been sent off for kicking Curtis Jones in anger with the ball. In any case, it went into the dressing room with a horror scoreline for the home side, 0:4.
Paul Pogba came on and should have done something about the game. But he didn’t really warm up on the pitch. After just five minutes he had to watch Salah complete his hat-trick and in the 60th minute he went to the showers. His slip on Keita was red-carded by referee Taylor with the help of VAR.
Two minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo reduced the deficit after a nice action, but his goal was disallowed due to an offside in the build-up. The rest of the match was more of a finish, with Red Devils fans leaving Old Trafford in large numbers.
Only Liverpool fans could be heard and they enjoyed the rest of the match. From the bustling microphones, Reds supporters could even be heard singing “Ole must stay” and “Ole’s at the wheel”, a phrase used by Red Devils fans when the Norwegian sat on the bench and thrived.
