Liverpool have no history in the Premier League, having won 1 title in 30 years, leans on rival Guardiola

Manchester City and Liverpool are competing for the league title this season, which the Citizens, unlike the Reds, know well. Coach Pep Guardiola hasn’t forgotten that either.
Liverpool stumbled on Saturday when they only drew with Tottenham 1-1. It was Manchester City who didn’t falter, demolishing Newcastle 5-0. With three rounds to go, the Citizens are 3 points clear and heading for the title defence.
The trophy has stayed at the Etihad Stadium three of the last four years, now it could be the fourth time. Overall, Citzens have dominated 5 of the last ten years. So the Premier League titles may already be rather crowded in Manchester.
But the same cannot be said for Liverpool. It is doing great in the number of league titles, with 19 titles it is the second most successful English club, but it has won 18 of them in the Football League First Division.
Since the competition was transformed into the Premier League in 1992, the Reds have waited a long time, until the 2019/20 season. Moreover, it is Liverpool’s only Premier League title, which is why even Manchester City, who fans laugh at for being an artificial club with no history, can afford a dig.
“Liverpool have an incredible history in the European Cups. But not in the Premier League because they have only won it once in 30 years,” Guardiola said in an interview with beIN Sports on the title tug of war.
The title fight will still be very interesting. Given the evenly matched match, the scoreline may be the deciding factor, which is currently better for the Citizens – 89::21, Liverpool have 87::23 thanks to their five-goal demolition of Newcastle.
Manchester City will challenge Wolverhampton, West Ham and Aston Villa in the last three rounds. Liverpool will play Aston Villa, Southampton and Wolves.
