Lionel Messi the worst finisher this season! But he is doing well in another statistic
Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi is unlikely to remember this season with joy. After ending up at his beloved Barcelona, he moved to PSG, where he didn’t do too well at first. Even though he made a comeback after that, it wasn’t enough for the Parisian side to achieve significant success in the Champions League.

Even though he made a comeback after that, it wasn’t enough for the Parisian side to achieve significant success in the Champions League.
Lionel Messi is still one of the best strikers in the world. He will celebrate his 35th birthday at the end of June, but he still holds his own at the highest level.
At the start of the season, the star-studded PSG were expecting big things from the Argentine. A team full of great footballers led by Messi, Neymar and Mbappé was supposed to be one of the biggest favourites to win the Champions League. However, the team failed to live up to expectations and crashed out in the eighth round.
It was Lionel Messi who received the most criticism with Neymar. But was it deserved criticism? In one aspect that is important for a striker, the Argentine completely failed.
It is the finishing. Lionel Messi has the first place in the worst finishing in Europe according to Whoscored, a website that deals with various statistics of players and teams. Lionel Messi has only managed to convert 8.3% of his chances this season.
Whoscored compared the productivity of 165 strikers playing in one of the top 5 European leagues. The condition was that the striker had at least ten goal scoring opportunities during the season.
Lionel Messi, on the other hand, is one of the best assistants in Europe. During this season he has already recorded 13 assists, and this ranks him third in this statistic. His teammate Kylian Mbappé has two more assists. The best assistant in Europe so far is Thomas Müller of Bayern Munich.
