Lingard as Ronaldo! The Manchester United alumnus took on his former club in an interview: They are behind in everything

Jesse Lingard was born not far from Manchester. At the age of seven, he joined Manchester United’s academy, where he was a player until the summer of 2022. He is now at Nottingham Forest and has emulated Cristiano Ronaldo, who left no stone unturned in an interview with Piers Morgan ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

He has spent most of his life as a Manchester United tribal player. He played 232 competitive games for Old Trafford, but never fully established himself as a member of the starting line-up. He shone the most on loan at West Ham, but since the summer he has been a Nottingham Forest player.

Rather than his performances on the pitch, he became famous for his videos, celebrations and dances. For a good part of his career, Jesse Lingard has been under a lot of criticism. But now he has become a big critic himself, having emulated his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo criticised Manchester United in an interview with Piers Morgan ahead of the World Cup in Qatar. Before the championship, his contract was terminated and now the Portuguese is a player for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.

The Real Madrid legend was unhappy with the treatment he received, but also with the fact that the club’s facilities have not changed much since he left Old Trafford. Lingard chimed in with his criticism of the facilities and added other observations.

Lingard had other criticisms than Ronaldo

“Manchester United are terribly behind in everything. You see the facilities of Manchester City, Tottenham… They are miles ahead. Even in terms of social media and media stuff. In 2017, I wanted to address YouTube content with the club, to inform about new trends. You have to be relevant,” the Mirror quotes Lingard as saying.

The 30-year-old Englishman also criticised the fact that players often did not know who actually had what role in the club’s management. Like his teammates, he wanted the best and most modern training facilities. But he didn’t get it.

Lingard concluded by pointing out that the media, in his words, has generally not written at all about the Manchester United team as such, meaning the players, but rather just what is wrong with the structures.
