Viktoria Plzeň has played its fourth match in the Champions League. This time they lost to Bayern 2:4, although it looked like a big beating at half-time. What are the reactions to Plzeň’s match against Munich?
The beginning of the match was reminiscent of the first match in the Allianz Arena. In the 14th minute Bayern were 2:0 up, in the 25th minute it was 3:0. Bayern added a fourth goal before half-time and it looked like a big debacle.
And that was also the reaction to Plzen’s first half.
“Plzeň’s first appearance in the LM, even Slavia when they were last there. The game had balls, there was a desire to attack, a nice representation of Czech football and a desire to please the fans. Today’s Plzen is absolutely pathetic and embarrassing. Most sad that they still dominate our league. Shame,” wrote a fan on Twitter.
“Only David Limbersky can save Pilsen now, who will go to the Bayern players’ cabin at half-time to blackmail them,” another user wrote.
“As a precaution, I would like to ask fotbal cs (a magazine dedicated to history) for information about the Czech team’s highest home defeat in the European Cups so far,” wrote journalist Luděk Mádl.
Viktoria, however, came back in the second half and scored two honorable goals. Although Bayern rotated their line-up and played the second half more or less out of obligation, it was still a slightly improved impression.
“Well done guys. We really didn’t expect 2 goals from Bayern. Good performance,” wrote a fan. “Second half was great and now we play LM like this all the time,” added another Viktoria supporter.
“Plzen is the only team in this year’s Champions League to score twice against Bayern. Plzen > Barcelona + Inter,” laughed a Viktoria fan.
