Like a motorcycle! Alphonso Davies showed incredible speed to score for Canada
Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies is one of the fastest footballers on the planet. He also plays in attack for Canada, so his speed can be even more impressive. Like against Panama.

In World Cup qualifying, the Americas offer an interesting spectacle. Out of the 8 teams, 3 qualify directly for the World Cup and the fourth team goes to the intercontinental barrage. Mexico is first with 14 points, USA second with 11 points, Canada third with 10 points and Panama fourth with 8 points. Fifth is Costa Rica with 6 points.
Canada played Panama and had 7 points before the game, so they were behind their opponent. Therefore, it was a very important game for them, which was decided by the Canadians’ biggest star, Alphonso Davies.
Panama went ahead in the 5th minute, Canada equalized in the 28th minute. However, they held a goalless draw until the 66th minute, which would have suited the visiting Panama. However, Davies would not be allowed to be one of the fastest players in the world.
A long ball from the Canadians was heading into the box, with seemingly no one coming close. Panama’s Sam Adekugbe thought he’d calmly let the ball go over the line, only for Davies to take off from deep in his own half, outrun Adekugbe and run with it into the whitewash.
He didn’t stop there, though, zigzagging around another opposing player, sending the ball into the net and putting Canada up 2-1. This goal calmed Canada down a lot, because 5 minutes later Buchanan increased the score and 6 minutes later David scored after an assist from Davies to adjust the score to the final 4: 1.
Davies has played 28 games for Canada and scored 10 goals. He could be a key player in pushing the country to the World Cup.
