Ligue 1 team performance: Monaco will want to attack the top positions!
The football club from the Principality of Monaco will definitely want to repeat their third place finish from last season in the French league and also succeed in the Champions League. Could this team win Ligue 1 or the Champions League?

Last year, Croatian coach Niko Kovač came to Monaco and helped the team to third place. This coach can do big things with a small team, which he proved during his time with German team Eintracht Frankfurt (winning the DFL-Supercup).
The new number one in goal is likely to be Alexander Nübel, who joined the Princes on a two-year loan from Bayern Munich. Nübel didn’t get many opportunities after his arrival at Bayern, so he will mainly be gaining playing experience in Monaco, which will be very useful for coach Niko Kovac.
The midfield line has been strengthened by Brazilian midfielder Jean Lucas, who was at Lyon. He signed a five-year contract at Monaco and the French team’s management had to pull out eleven million euros (about 280 million CZK) from its coffers.
The management had to pay much more for the young 20-year-old striker Boadu, as the transfer cost the Frenchman seventeen million euros (about 430 million CZK). Boadu came from the Dutch club Alkmaar, where he scored 38 goals in 88 competitive matches.
Defender Fodé Ballo-Touré and striker Henry Onyekuru left the princely club. The main stars remain at the club for now, so we can look forward to hopefully Monaco’s title run (last winning the title in the 2016/17 season).
Before the start of the French league, Monaco entered victorious in the Champions League and took on Sparta Prague without much trouble. The players will play their first home game against Nantes this weekend and will be looking to advance to the next round of Champions League action next week.
