A very spicy return for Robert Lewandowski in the Champions League. The Barcelona striker is returning to Munich, where he spent some great years at the local Bayern.

The Polish goalscorer played 375 games for Bayern, scoring 344 goals and adding 72 assists. He will probably not add any more to his 31,000 minutes played, as he is currently accumulating playing time in Spain.

He has played six games for Barcelona and scored nine goals. However, he will face his former employer on Tuesday night.

It is with his former teammates that he has often had his fill of Barcelona in recent years. Last year, Bayern twice beat the Catalans 3-0 in the group stage, and even 8-2 in the quarter-finals the year before. Lewandowski himself scored three goals in those matches.

Now, however, he must quickly get used to his former teammates. And so are Bayern’s players, for which they have been preparing themselves.

“For the last ten days Sadio Mané has been making fun of me so that I don’t accidentally pass to Robert Lewandowski,” laughed Thomas Müller at the press conference. He too is enjoying the games against Barcelona, scoring four goals and adding an assist in the last three clashes.

Now, however, he has to do without his teammate Lewandowski and has Mané instead. However, Bayern are not doing well in the league, having drawn three times in a row.

In the first round of the Champions League, however, they beat Inter 2-0, so the battle with Barcelona will probably be for first place. Who will take the first step?
