The national break is coming and the Polish national team will visit the Czech Republic as part of the qualification for the European Championship. It will be newly led by Portuguese coach Fernando Santos. Who is he counting on in Eden?
After this weekend, the qualification for the European Championships will begin, which will be held in 2024 in Germany, a country that is very accessible from the point of view of Czech fans. That is why it would be great if Jaroslav Šilhavy’s team would qualify for the Euros.
The Czech Republic can look forward to the first qualifying match already on Friday. Eden is sold out, the opponent will be Poland. And many Polish fans will come to Prague to support their country.
Our neighbours will be led by a new coach for the first time. After a not very successful World Cup, Fernando Santos ended up with the Portuguese national team, taking advantage of the fact that the Polish coach also paid for the unsuccessful World Cup.
Santos is now the new coach of Poland and he will have a great debut in Prague. The Polish public was all the more curious about his first selection, which doesn’t look bad at all.
The 25-strong squad includes Poland’s biggest star Robert Lewandowski, who has recently recovered from minor health problems. Piotr Zielinski, who is having a phenomenal season in Naples, is also a stalwart of the Polish national team.
Santos also nominated recent Arsenal signing Jakub Kiwior, AS Roma’s Nikola Zalewski and Aston Villa’s Matty Cash. Wojciech Szczesny and Bartlomiej Dragowski are among the goalkeepers.
Polish nomination:
Goalkeepers: Bartlomiej Dragowski (Spezia/It.), Lukasz Skorupski (Bologna/It.), Wojciech Szczesny (Juventus Turin/It.).
