Robert Lewandowski is the freshest signing for Barcelona, who are on a roll right now. Several transfers are set to put the club back among the elite, and the Polish midfielder is also looking to help.
Andreas Christensten, Franck Kessié, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. These are the players they already have in their locker at Camp Nou. Ousmane Dembélé has signed a new contract and César Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are also on the radar.
Club president Joan Laporta is doing everything he can to bring the club back to the limelight and is investing heavily in the squad, even if it comes at the cost of selling off the club’s rights.
From Lewandowski, the Catalan capital hopes to shoot Barcelona to the league title, ideally also success in the European Cups.
“Barcelona is back,” Lewandowski said in an introductory interview with the club’s website. ” I think I will help bring the team back to the top of Europe, ” the Poland international added.
The transfer negotiations were not easy, however, as Bayern did not want to give up their star at all. Lewandowski had to literally talk his way out of the transfer and public pressure forced the club to let him leave a year before the end of his contract.
“Those were long days. I hope we start the season with a winning season – I like winning trophies and this is a new chapter for me with new challenges,” the 34-year-old striker said.
“I’ve already spoken to Xavi and I know about his ideology. He was a great player and has a great future as a coach,” Lewandowski praised his new coach.
