Levy should have announced the price tag for Kane! Tottenham reportedly asking for 115 million euros
Harry Kane is probably the most wanted striker on the market right now. The 29-year-old forward is of great interest to leading English clubs and now also to Real Madrid, who are looking for a replacement for Karim Benzema. How much are Spurs asking for him?
Harry Kane is probably the most wanted striker on the market right now. The 29-year-old forward is of great interest to leading English clubs and now also to Real Madrid, who are looking for a replacement for Karim Benzema. How much are Spurs asking for him?
Karim Benzema left Real Madrid in a week after 14 years and an unfamiliar situation has arisen at the Santiago Bernabéu. For the first time since 2009, Florentino Pérez has to buy a number 1 striker.
In fact, after his arrival, Benzema shared the place with Higuain, and later with Morata, who is an offspring of the club. However, the Frenchman won a place in the starting line-up for himself and Real did not have to deal with the number nine position.
But now there is a new situation. And Carlo Ancelotti had to appoint Harry Kane as a replacement. The England captain is currently the hottest and most affordable striker on the market.
In fact, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé are firmly under contract at Manchester City and PSG and there is probably no better striker on the market. The whole situation is compounded by the fact that Kane wants to go out and start winning trophies, he hasn’t won any in his career yet.
But buying out Kane will not be easy. The owner of Tottenham, Daniel Levy, is known for his hard bargaining, intransigence and bargaining to the last euro. For this reason, several clubs prefer not to do business with Tottenham at all.
Real Madrid had a similar experience in the summer of 2013 when they tried to buy out Gareth Bale. The transfer dragged on for quite a long time until the Welshman finally became the most expensive player in the world.
But there’s no need to go far back in history, in the summer of 2021 Kane decided that he didn’t want to continue at Tottenham and wanted to leave to win trophies. Reportedly, he had already agreed everything with Manchester City, only for Tottenham to keep hiking the price until the Citizens representatives twitched.
In the end, he demanded up to 150 million euros and didn’t budge a euro, so the whole transfer fell through. And how much would he like this time?
The Lions must take into account the fact that Kane will be 30 years old at the end of July. At the same time, his contract expires in a year and he will be able to go anywhere for free. So Spurs have to take a bit of a discount, but anyone who knows Levy knows it won’t be by much.
According to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Levy is asking €115 million for Kane. That may be a reasonable amount for such a quality and reliable goalscorer, but not taking into account circumstances like age and contract.
Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a first bid of €80 million, which is a lot less than Levy would have liked. The whole transfer is expected to close around €100 million, but we’ll have to wait and see if the Tottenham owner is willing to discount this time.
