Patrik Schick is about to start his fourth season at Bayer Leverkusen, but unfortunately he won’t be able to start. He is injured for a long time. The German club has to deal with the situation and, according to German media, has already found a replacement.
Last season was very controversial for Leverkusen. Fans were looking forward to the Czech-Moravian duo of Patrik Schick, Adam Hložek. Schick was having the season of his life, Hložek was coming in as a great talent.
But from the start, it was rough. Schick wasn’t scoring goals, Hložek had to fight for a place, Leverkusen weren’t doing well at all. During the season there was a change of coach, Xabi Alonso is the new head of the club, however Hložek was continuously given time to adapt, Schick started to suffer in a big injury.
And how does it look now? Schick is unfortunately injured again, it is estimated that he will be out until at least October. Hložek is still fighting for a place, however, Moussa Diaby is on his way out so it will be interesting to see how Alonso puts it together for the new season.
However, Hložek is not counted on to be the spearhead at Leverkusen, so there was a need to find someone who can replace Schick. According to Sport1, a concrete transfer is also close.
Victor Boniface is expected to join Bayer from Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. He is a 22-year-old Nigerian striker who came to Belgium a year ago from Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
Boniface is expected to sign a five-year contract at Leverkusen. According to Transfermarkt, his value is around €12 million. Last season he scored 17 goals in 51 competitive matches for the Belgian side, adding 12 assists.
He racked up similar numbers for the Norwegian team, playing 66 games, scoring 23 goals and adding 8 assists.
