It is a recurring theme. One of the playing legends of tennis answers the same question consistently. And that’s the end of her career. Andy Murray has had enough of this. But he did make it clear how much longer he plans to tour tennis tournaments. So what are his plans?

Murray this season

The year 2024 is a rather bitter experience for him. Thirty-six-year-old Briton Andy Murray is trying in vain to get a more significant result.

He only recorded his first win in his fifth match of the new season in Doha. But he was beaten by Jakub Mensik in the very next match.

The Briton had a similar result this week in Dubai. He’s through to the second round and that’s it. This time he was no match for France’s Humbert.

So instead of a breakthrough, it’s back to the same question. When will Murray call it a career? Frustrating. And the winner of three Grand Slams has had enough of this.

End of debate

Murray admits he is tired of being asked about the end of his career. He doesn’t intend to dissect the question anymore. Which is an entirely appropriate response. You don’t play tennis to wonder when you’re going to quit after every match.

I’m not going to discuss this topic anymore,” he said in Dubai. And that attitude will hold true until the date when the Glasgow native’s successful career truly comes to a close.

Murray, however, at least hinted. He doesn’t plan to play much more after the summer months. This year’s French Open and Wimbledon, and perhaps the Olympics, will be the British tennis player’s swan song.

Let’s hope, then, that the end of Murray’s successful career will be accompanied by results that will drown out the need to constantly address the definitive date of his tennis retirement.
