Letang’s one man show

The New York Islanders vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (0:7) was a clear-cut affair for the visiting team. Penguins’ defensive legend Kris Letang, who contributed 6 assists to the Islanders’ demolition of the home team, had a great performance!

In the second period of the game, when the Pittsburgh team decided the game, Letang scored a record 5 assists, which has never been done before in the long history of the NHL. His 6 assists in the game tied another record set by Gary Suter in 1986.

Jake Guentzel and Evgeni Malkin twice benefited from Letang’s accurate passes. Czech forward Radim Zohorna and Valtteri Puustinen scored one goal each. Islanders’ ace goalie Ilya Sorokin gave up his sixth goal, while Tristan Jerry needed 22 saves to keep his clean sheet.

A successful night for the Czech goaltenders

Vítek Vaněček made 26 saves in New Jersey’s 4-3 overtime win over Columbus, his 14th game-winning goal of the season. He continues to rank among the top ten in the NHL in the number of wins he has picked up.

Karel Vejmelka also scored another game-winner, which was also decided in overtime. Arizona defeated the powerful Colorado Avalanche 5-4. It was only his sixth win in 16 games.

David Rittich also continued his great performance, scoring only once in the Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks (5:1). He gave another great performance after getting another chance to catch.

Petr Mrazek was even named the second star of the game after he only scored once, with 37 successful hits. His Chicago was also successful in overtime (2: 1) against Winnipeg, when the overtime was decided by youngster Connor Bedard.
