Saturday’s Bundesliga schedule will feature matches between Leipzig and Mainz. The table neighbours are playing for a lot, the winner can get closer to the European cups, the loser will fall a little closer to the relegation zone.
Leipzig are unexpectedly struggling in the league, they are only tenth in the table. However, the Bundesliga is so even this season that Leipzig is only five points behind sixth place and only five points away from the barrier.
Mainz are slightly better off. They are ninth and only five points behind third-placed Freiburg. They have won two of their last four games and can realistically think about the European Cup if they can maintain their form.
Christopher Nkunku is having a great season, the French midfielder had a hand in fourteen league goals (7+7) and added seven more in the Champions League. Left wing-back Angelino is also a mainstay.
On the away side, Jonathan Burkardt has been on fire, the German youth international boasts a 7+2 record. Austrian Karim Onisiwo is his assistant, adding two goals to his six assists.
Leipzig are struggling defensively, having not kept a clean sheet for ten Bundesliga rounds and conceding at least two goals in four of their last six league games.
Mainz’s defence is working well, but on the other hand they are very poor when it comes to scoring goals. Only Union Berlin (23) have scored fewer goals than Mainz (25) from the top half of the table.
Considering the struggling attack of the visitors, I think Leipzig will win the game.
