Leicester stars up for grabs: who could leave for a cut price after relegation?
The fairy tale is over. Eight years after a sensational Premier League title came the crash and Leicester were relegated to the Championship. Which stars will be in demand?
The fairy tale is over. Eight years after a sensational Premier League title came the crash and Leicester were relegated to the Championship. Which stars will be in demand?
Youri Tielemans
One of the biggest stars who will have no shortage of other signings. Unfortunately for Leicester though, the club’s coffers won’t collect anything for him as Tielemans’ contract expires in June and he can go anywhere for free.
Arsenal were very interested and they will probably be interested in the Belgian midfielder this time as well. In the current season, he has scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 31 games.
James Maddison
Another star who will have no problem finding suitors. Maddison has been in demand amongst the Premier League’s elite for a long time, his contract expires in a year and he certainly doesn’t want to stay in the second tier, so Leicester should be willing to sell.
It is on Maddison that they will be able to make the most money, the value of the England international according to the Transfermarkt website is 55 million euros. Here, too, there is talk of strong interest from Arsenal or Newcastle. In 30 games he has a record of 10+9.
Harvey Barnes
One of the best wingers in the Premier League the season before last. Back then Barnes had a record of 9+4, last season 6+10, last season he dragged the Foxes with 13 goals.
He too will be in high demand and it’s hard to imagine the 25-year-old midfielder staying in the Championship. He is worth €32 million and his contract at Leicester expires in 2025.
Other interesting names
Kelehi Iheanacho, Wout Faes, Timothy Castagne, Wilfried Ndidi.
It is not much to expect that the experienced leader Jamie Vardy will leave the team. the 36-year-old footballer could have left Leicester several times but never did. If he stays and tries to dig the team out for promotion, he will be an even bigger legend among the fans than he already is.
