Excellent end of the 1st set
Lehecka took on the talented Musetti in the quarterfinals. The match had no favourite, it was a great chance for both tennis players to succeed. In the first set both tennis players held their serve. This was true until the eighth game.
At 4::3 for the Czech, Musetti chose a weaker moment on his serve. Lehecka used his only chance to break, gaining a crucial advantage that decided the fate of the first set. Lehecka converted his advantage perfectly. He won the first set 6::3 and was close to advancing to the semifinals.
The start of the second set also started promisingly for the Czech tennis player. In the opening game he worked out 5 break points, but he did not use any of them. After a great fight Musetti managed to defend his serve. This moment gave him a huge boost. The Italian improved dramatically after that and put up a good fight. He was able to take the serve from Lehecek twice, and after a clear run, he won the second set 6:1.
The end of the match was very dramatic
The deciding set was the most exciting. Musetti took advantage of his better mental well-being and got the break advantage right from the start. However, the Czech youngster did not give up. Once again he managed to break the Italian’s serve and it was 3:3.
Lehečka took the reins of the match. He worked out chances to decide the match, but the Italian continued to resist. It seemed that the match would be decided by a tiebreak, but it didn’t happen. Lehecka managed to break his opponent at 6::5 and another tournament success was in the world.
The Czech player won 6::3, 1::6, 7::5 and improved his tournament best. With his progress to the semi-finals, he will move into the top 100 in the rankings, which will be his maximum.
