The prestigious Miami Open is taking place in Florida these days. Jiri Lehecka reached his first promotion to the third round of a Masters event by defeating Lorenzo Musetti in two sets on Saturday. The WTA 1000 level continues with a large Czech representation.

The Czech men’s number one challenged his Italian opponent after getting past Argentina’s Federico Coria thanks to a 6:3 and 6:4 win. The match against the 21st player in the world Musetti had a similar result.

Lehecka, who is currently ranked 44th in the ATP rankings, faced a single break point in the match, but it went unused. The twenty-one-year-old domestic tennis star, on the other hand, took away her opponent’s serve twice, which led to victories in both sets by 6:4.

On Sunday, all of our players who have won the women’s singles title will be in action. The Czech derby should take place from 4 pm CET. Karolína Plíšková and Markéta Vondroušová, who is trying to return to the top 100 of the singles rankings, will face each other.

However, the world number 17 has the better record. Pliskova ran into her compatriot, among others, a month ago in Dubai. The native of Louny defeated Vondrousova 6:3 and 6:4.

On the hard courts in Miami, other Czech players will also try to qualify for the top 16. Barbora Krejcikova, the world number 13, will challenge the home player as she will play Madison Keys, who is eight places lower.

Karolína Muchová will face Sorana Cirstea of Romania. In this case, it will be a clash between the 55th and 74th women in the WTA rankings. The 12th player in the world, Petra Kvitova, will play the 20th player, Donna Vekić of Croatia.

After the withdrawal of defending champion Iga Świąteková, the paper favourite for the overall triumph is the world number two Aryna Sabalenka. The opponent of the Belarusian will be the 36th best tennis player on the circuit Marie Bouzkova, who will not have an easy job.

The tournament in Miami runs until April 2. The women’s matches will be broadcast live on O2 TV Tennis, the men’s part on Eurosport 2.
