Leeds vs. Newcastle: Preview and betting tips
Saturday’s Premier League schedule will feature, among other things, Leeds and Newcastle. Although the visitors are fighting for the Champions League, paradoxically, a draw is enough for them, while the home team must win. Salvation is a long way off.
Saturday’s Premier League schedule will feature, among other things, Leeds and Newcastle. Although the visitors are fighting for the Champions League, paradoxically, a draw is enough for them, while the home team must win. Salvation is a long way off.
Leeds are on the “best” path to relegation, as they are already six games away from winning. Three rounds to go, they are second to last and two points behind 17th placed Everton. After Newcastle, it’s West Ham and Tottenham.
Newcastle, on the other hand, are in a good position as they need only six points from four rounds to secure the Top 4 guaranteeing the Champions League. It is now third in the table, with a three-point lead over fifth-placed Liverpool and one game to play.
Leeds’ key figures
The home side rely on Jack Harrison, the England winger is on five goals and ten assists. Patrick Bamford is unlucky in the end, yet the coaches are banking on him at the end of the season. He simply has experience and his 6+4 record is not that bad.
Newcastle’s key players
The Magpies are relying on Alexander Isak, although he has missed most of the season, he is already on ten goals and two assists. Workman Joelinton is also in great form, with the Brazilian all-rounder scoring eight times and assisting three.
Leeds’ problem is clearly in their defence, which is young, inexperienced and, with 69 goals conceded, the worst in the league. They have received more than one goal in eight of their last ten Premier League games.
That’s grist for the mill of Newcastle, who have caught the spittle and struck at least twice in eight of their last ten games. West Ham, for example, have scored five, Tottenham have even scored six, and Manchester United have come away with a two-goal haul.
Considering Leeds’ defensive disastrous state, the poor performances in recent weeks and the shooting phase of Newcastle and especially Isak, I think the visitors can win and get closer to the Champions League.
