Monday’s football programme will be spiced up by the Premier League clash between Leeds and Liverpool. Neither Manchester City nor Arsenal have won at Anfield this season, but The Whites have done so this winter. What to expect from the rematch?
Monday’s football programme will be spiced up by the Premier League clash between Leeds and Liverpool. Neither Manchester City nor Arsenal have won at Anfield this season, but The Whites have done so this winter. What to expect from the rematch?
Leeds have lost two of their last three games and dropped to 16th in the table after Saturday’s wins over Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton and Bournemouth. They are two points clear of the relegation zone.
On the other hand, Liverpool has been waiting for a win for four rounds, last time at home they drew with leaders Arsenal after a good performance. From the eighth place they are five points behind the Top 7 and 12 points behind the Champions League.
Leeds’ key figures
The Whites are backed by the decent form of Jack Harrison, the speedy winger is on five goals and nine assists. Spurs striker Patrick Bamford is also finally picking up points, with five goals and four assists so far.
Liverpool’s key figures
The visitors rely on Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian winger has netted 24 goals and assisted 11. Roberto Firmino, the author of nine goals and five assists, has also come into form during his recent progress in Liverpool colours.
Leeds are not doing well defensively, with the young squad making frequent mistakes, resulting in 54 goals conceded (third worst in the league). In the last five rounds, they have conceded an average of an appalling 2.8 goals per game.
This plays into the hands of Liverpool, who, on the other hand, mainly thanks to Salah, rely on attacking. With 50 goals, he has the league’s fifth best attack. In the last six rounds of the Premier League, he has averaged two goals per round.
Taking into account the Salah factor, Liverpool’s sympathetic performance against table leader Arsenal and Leeds’ troubled defensive performance, I think the Reds will not falter this time on away soil and take all the points.
