Sunday will see a rescue battle between Leeds and Burnley. The two clubs are separated by just five points, with both having combined for a single point in their last six games. Who will break the losing streak?
Leeds are struggling compared to last season. They have lost their last three league games and have dropped to 16th in the table. They are five points clear of the relegation places and will need at least a draw on Sunday.
Burnley are even worse off. It has won just one single game so far, has taken one point from the last three rounds and is still languishing near the bottom of the table. From eighteenth place they are two points behind the non-relegation places.
The mainstay of the home team is the speedy winger Raphinha, not for nothing Liverpool are interested in the Brazilian author of eight goals and one assist. Nor can we forget England international Kalvin Phillips.
There is not much to praise in the Burnley camp. Maxwel Cornet made a good start and quickly scored five league goals, but then his gunpowder got wet. So the coaching staff can rely on Ben Mee and Nick Pope for the long term.
Leeds couldn’t boast a solid defence last year either, but their attack worked. He hasn’t scored many goals this year and has scored thirty-six himself. Only last-placed Norwich and penultimate-placed Newcastle are worse off.
Burnley’s attack is creaking again, the Clarets have only scored fifteen goals, only Wolverhampton and Norwich have scored less.
Given Raphinha’s good form and the strength of the home environment, I think Leeds will win. Peacocks fans know how to get their players going.
