The NBA offered the LA derby
In the Los Angeles Lakes vs Los Angeles Clippers derby (106:103), Lebron James and Anthony Davis were the main architects of the victory in this duel. The Lakers really needed to work a bit, as they were already on a four-game losing streak.
After winning the NBA Cup without losing a single game, the team seemed to have run out of juice. They had more losses than wins, which contributes to their negative 18-19 record. The rival Clippers are heading into the playoffs with a 23-13 record.
Team L. A. The Clippers also have a very strong lineup – Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Ivica Zubac, with Russell Westbrook still available on the bench. James had 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in this game. Teammate Davis contributed 22 points.
James and the 40,000 point mark
The NBA is already gearing up for an unprecedented milestone. The countdown has already begun for the mythical mark to fall. James’ career average is 27.2 points and even in his 21st season, he’s not slowing down, still averaging over 25 points. Celebrations are planned for the month of February, as at the current pace, it’s some 19 games when the ”immortality” threshold will fall. And the NBA as we know it will put on a ceremony fit for a king.
Irving and Doncic directed the win over Minnesota
The Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (115:108) was an attractive duel of teams that are still in the playoffs. The key man of this game was Kyrie Irving from Dallas, who scored 35 points for Minnesota.
Irving played a key role with 3 minutes left in the game when he converted two three-point baskets and definitely tipped the scales in Dallas’ favor. However, he wasn’t the only man to cross the 30-point mark in the game.
The Mavericks’ traditional workhorse Luka Doncic scored just one point less. So once again, he met his season standard of at least 30 points in a game. And on the other side, Anthony Edwards pulled the Minnesota team, he dramatized the game until the end and scored 36 points.
