Leader Pogba! See how he motivated his teammates in the locker room at halftime against Spain
Paul Pogba has a reputation among the footballing public as a player who is more interested in his hair, clothes and dancing. But when the going gets tough, he shows his leadership side and helps push his team to victory.
Paul Pogba has a reputation among the footballing public as a player who is more interested in his hair, clothes and dancing. But when the going gets tough, he shows his leadership side and helps push his team to victory.
Pogba is often criticised for only putting in a good performance when he is in the mood, or for not caring that much about the result. However, they would probably disagree with that in the France national team, where Pogba is a regular leader.
Pogba’s speech in the France cabin went around the world back in 2018 during the World Cup, when Les Bleus faced Argentina in the quarter-finals.
“Today is ‘killing’. With or without Messi, I don’t care! We came here to win this championship!” Pogba exhorted his teammates three years ago in Russia.
The 28-year-old midfielder took the floor at half-time of the Nations League final against Spain and had plenty to say to his teammates.
“We have to be aggressive. It starts from the strikers all the way back. We get the ball and we attack! Yes, we will run a lot because they have quality players, but so do we. We have to keep the ball and then strike. In the second half we have to press well and be more aggressive,” Pogba motivated his teammates.
France really won in the end when Benzema and Mbappé scored. The 2018 world champions turned the game around as Spain went ahead thanks to a goal from Oyarzabal.
And the victory was duly enjoyed by Pogba and his teammates.
