LCS: FlyQuest faces ignominious elimination
The hot title contender has so far failed to stave off a colossal fall to the bottom. This puts FlyQuest in danger of a sensational elimination before the Worlds fight.

The LCS is gradually crystallizing the final eight for the summer playoffs, which have different parameters than the spring one. However, on the brink of elimination stands a team no one would have expected at the start of the split.
FlyQuest, with players who were supposed to be among the best in the league, still can’t shake the crisis that has been dragging on since the end of the spring split.
American qualifying for Worlds takes a different form than it does in Europe or other major regions. Instead of regional qualifiers or an additional tournament (the Season Finals in Europe), the playoffs expand to eight teams in the summer split, and it is here that the qualifiers for the final tournament will be directly decided.
The league thus avoids the traditional Championship points system – i.e., a ranking of the entire season and the performances of the individual splits.
This change gives even the paper-weaker teams a chance to surprise and compete for one of the three guaranteed spots at Worlds. The fourth best will then, as of this year, play an additional qualifier against the European top four.
Unfortunately for FlyQuest, the chances of qualifying are drastically diminishing with each failure. While the team has managed to win three games, it also has ten losses and a streak of four losses in a row.
Currently, the penultimate team in the league is two wins behind the 100 Thieves, who are now tied for eighth place. The team failed to beat NRG last time out and made their promotion chances very difficult.
For a team with big names in the Korean league and equally big ambitions, this is damn near enough. Any further setbacks could mean another big surprise this season.
Will FlyQuest follow the same script as Vitality in Europe? Or will the team breathe a big comeback? But time is running out for FlyQuest, and there could already be a big shock coming Friday morning into Saturday.
