Korean LCK continued with the second series of the day. It featured the LCK T1 runners-up and the fourth team of the spring split – Hanwha Life Esports.
Will T1 play great again or will we see a surprise? The pattern from the spring split, when Hanwha players were the only ones who could turn T1 around in the regular season, was right there. For T1, the start of the split was a great opportunity to shake off the MSI and start a new chapter.
Hanwha Life was able to use the blueprint from the spring again in the first game. The game became unprecedentedly dramatic, with Viper showing a little of his mastery. T1 looked not so sleepy but rather not expecting such defiance. Although maybe T1 was lacking, just better accuracy and finishing.
Hanwha, after winning the first game, was logically on a roll and fanned a big win to open the split. But T1 are not a team that gives up. The team has historically been known to get stronger with each loss.
If we were to sum up what happened in the second game, it would be a professorial approach. The Korean titan played very pragmatically and precisely. Gumayusi showed Viper how to play the best Aphelios in Korea. Faker showed Zeke how to play K’Sante on the midu.
The deciding match was a tug of war by Hanwha Life. Even though the match didn’t take on much beauty, T1 managed to build a sizable lead on the goals. While Hanwha had signs of breaking T1’s resistance, it was the gold advantage that helped the team win the series.
T1 got their first win of the summer, but it was not the absolute domination we expect from this team. By Sunday, however, much could change as T1 will challenge GenG in a rematch of the last three LCK finals.
