Friday planned an interesting program for all fans. The duels of the best four teams of the spring split were to lure big dramas.
The first of these duels between GenG and KT Rolster was supposed to be very even on paper. While KT managed to push past Hanwha Life on Wednesday, for GenG it was the entry into the summer split.
The expected drama started the first act, with KT putting on a very dominant performance, the best performance of any team in the ongoing split so far.
GenG tried to play a very unconventional composition with Tristana, Draven and Braum, but their attempt to surprise their opponent failed fatally.
The second game was much more balanced and traditional by Korean standards. GenG did not abandon the idea of Draven and tried to play now paired with Millie, who is probably the strongest support currently.
This combination became a sure thing, plus GenG with better map control outplayed their opponent. As a result, the series was tied at 1-1 and KT had to come up with a new theme to win.
The third game mirrored the course of the first game, but in reverse. GenG was able to perfectly nullify any chances KT Rolster had. Though it must be noted, for most of the game the scoring was even.
Still, GenG won the third game without a single death and set themselves up well for Sunday’s rematch of the Spring Finals with T1. This match will fully showcase their current strengths, especially after the MSI tournament.
