Lautaro: I’m disappointed in Lukaku. He didn’t even answer my phone, no one at Inter did. But it’s his choice

Lukaku and his future, this is another transfer saga of the summer. He’d love to return to Inter Milan, but he’s annoyed the fans with his dealings with Juventus. Lautaro Martínez doesn’t understand his behaviour.
Wherever he went, he scored goals. With one exception. Chelsea. They bought him as a teenager from Anderlecht, but he never made it there. Romelu Lukaku didn’t exactly shine at Manchester United either, but the Blues seem to be his bane.
At Inter Milan, the Belgian footballer became a truly respected cannonballer. He has formed a formidable duo with Lautaro Martínez. However, he decided to return to Chelsea and that proved to be a mistake. So after a year he went back to Italy, but only on loan.
Although Lukaku did not follow up his previous engagement, he was not a downright flop last season. Inter would like to keep him, but the Belgian is a Chelsea tribal player who is not going to sell him cheap to the Italian club.
But there’s a hitch. Lukaku has gone behind Inter’s back to negotiate with its rival, Juventus of Turin. This should have infuriated the Champions League finalist so much that he decided to end all negotiations.
And the players are furious too. “The Lukaku saga? I’m disappointed with Romelu, that’s how it is. In these days of chaos, I tried to call him but he never once answered. The same to my teammates,” said Lautaro Martínez in an interview with Gazzetta delo Sport.
“I was disappointed. But okay, it’s his choice,” the Argentine striker added. Lukaku has often praised his work with Lautaro. “I would have died for him on the pitch since I met him,” the Belgian told Sky Sports in 2021.
So Lukaku’s future is still uncertain. He has also had big offers from Saudi Arabia, but reportedly prefers to stay in Europe. It will be interesting to see which team will eventually take him.
