Lukáš Juliš moved to Spanish UD Ibiza, which is his first foreign engagement. The 28-year-old forward has played only for Sparta, Bohemians or Sigma Olomouc. During his first press conference he showed that English is not his strong point.

The move to Ibiza is the envy of all party people and nightlife lovers. This Spanish island is renowned as the best and also the most expensive in terms of nightlife.

Nobody associates Ibiza with football, although the local UD plays in the second highest competition. The team is in last place in the table, but Juliš meets some interesting teammates.

For example, Nolito, former forward of Manchester City, Sevilla and Celta Vigo, plays for Ibiza. In defence, there is Coke, who has five years at Sevilla, five years at Levante and also played for Schalke.

But Juliš, at 28, probably didn’t count on a foreign engagement, so he didn’t do any language preparation. So he entertained the fans with his (in)English at his first press conference.

“I play good, because I last year, last half year, little bit not good play,” Juliš said in broken English.

Fans immediately thought of the legendary Czech skier Stanislav Rezac, who made history by speaking in three languages at the same time.

Hopefully Juliš will prove that he is better at football than English and help Ibiza on the pitch. The latter will need it a lot, after 23 rounds they are in the last place of the table with 16 points and nine points behind the first non-relegation place.
