Spanish Barcelona brought in a new defensive reinforcement on the last day of the transfer window. Hector Bellerín, who has spent most of his career at Arsenal, has headed to the Camp Nou.
Hector Bellerín is not going to unfamiliar surroundings. He started his career at Barcelona and has been there since he was six years old. He went through all the youth teams until he was 16. Then he started a new chapter in his career.
The Spanish back moved to England, where he defended the colours of Arsenal. Except for the first season after the transfer, when the London club sent him on loan to Watford. Since then, however, he has spent seven and a half years in London.
Since the age of 19, Bellerín has been a regular in the Arsenal lineup, and due to the large overcrowding in the squad and frequent injuries, he also spent last year on loan, at Real Betis.
He will remain in Spain for the next season. The 27-year-old defender was bought out of Arsenal by Barcelona and signed a contract at the Camp Nou until 2023.
This is a coveted reinforcement of Barcelona. It has already sent its other defenders Samuel Umtiti and Sergin Desta on loan. It is Bellerín who is expected to replace these two strikers.
Barcelona also announced other changes to the squad at the end of the transfer window. It finally managed to get rid of Martin Braithwaite, who wanted to stay at the club at all costs, despite the disinterest of the management and the hostility of the local fans. Ez Abde also went on loan to Osasuna.
