Kylian Mbappé is one of the best footballers on the planet. Together with Erling Haaland, they should take over the vacant football throne from Lionel Messi – Cristiano Ronaldo. This season he has only confirmed that it is he who keeps PSG afloat. He showed his importance in Sunday’s 0:2 win over Le Havre.

Le Havre – PSG

The Parisian club entered the match actively and tried to create chances. The right side was the most threatening, where Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi are well suited. However, Gianluigi Donnarumma put a chink in the whole team’s plan, getting sent off after a nasty tackle.

From then on, the game evened out a bit, with the home side taking more possession of the ball. However, Mbappé was again the key figure. His first chance, when he advanced alone from the halfway line on goalkeeper Desmas, he still didn’t convert. However, he split the net a few minutes later with a shot from outside the box that bounced off the right post and into the net.

The French striker had another crack at the ball in the 32nd minute, but his goal was ruined by an offside. Nothing interesting happened for the rest of the first half.

Le Havre took the initiative in the second half and pressed the Parisians. The visitors played on fast breaks, which they didn’t get to most of the time. The home side even outshot PSG, but most of their shots were not dangerous.

When Le Havre players did get a chance, they failed on the excellent Tenas. Alioui had the best chance in the 79th minute, but his shot and shot were both saved by the substitute goalkeeper.

Joujou also got a shot off in the visitors’ sixth in the 80th minute, but it just missed the right post. In the final minutes, Le Havre tightened the belt around the PSG penalty area. However, the visitors got their chance when Mbappé hit only the goalkeeper with his left foot after a great pass from Hernández. But a few dozen seconds later, Vitinha put the keeper through with a beautiful shot from outside the box.

Mbappé in the current season

At the start of the season, the French striker was out of the squad due to speculation about a transfer to Real Madrid. He missed the opening game of Ligue 1, in which PSG only drew 0:0 with Lorient. In the second round, however, Mbappé jumped into the match and immediately scored the only goal of the Parisians, which secured at least a point with Toulouse.

As in the last league game, many of the goals were difference goals. Without their best player, Paris could be in the middle of the Ligue 1 table.

Mbappé has already scored 18 goals in 18 games this season, 15 in Ligue 1 and 3 in the Champions League, where the Parisians are well on their way to progressing out of the group of death thanks to a disputed penalty against Newcastle.

The Ligue 1 goalscoring record is set by Josip Skoblar, who managed to score 44 goals in one season. If Mbappé continues these performances, he could break this record during the current season.

Last season

The course of last season is certainly remembered by all fans. The attacking trio of Neymar – Mbappé – Messi should have led PSG to the Champions League triumph, but it didn’t happen. Mbappé was the only one of the three mentioned who had a good season.

41 goals in 43 games, plus 10 assists. He became the top scorer in Ligue 1 and was a big part of PSG winning the league.
