We will have at least three representatives in the Indian Wells tournament in the eighth round! Karolína Plíšková, Petra Kvitová and Barbora Krejčíková will advance, while the talented Linda Nosková will finish the tournament.
The WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells already knows some of the qualifiers for the eight finals. The Czech Republic will have at least three representatives in it thanks to its quality tennis players.
The first one was Karolína Plíšková, currently the world’s 17th ranked player, who played against the 11th best tennis player in the world – Russian Veronika Kudermetova.
The Czech won the first set 6:1 and the second set 7:5, which allowed her to advance to the eight-finals and even their match record to 2:2.
Petra Kvitová, ranked 15th in the world, played against 25th ranked Jelena Ostapenko. The 25-year-old Latvian gave her a canary in the first set and seemed to be done.
But the mistake was true, Kvitova picked herself up and in the second set she in turn awarded her opponent a canary. The third set was more even and the Czech won it 6::4.
The next advancing player is WTA world number 16 Barbora Krejcikova, who defeated 67th player Xinyu Wang 6: 2, 6: 7 and 6: 2 in three sets.
Linda Noskova played against world number six Coco Gauff, a year older than her, who beat her 6: 4 and 6: 3. Today, however, we have more matches of firecrackers.
Karolína Muchová, who is the lower ranked tennis player in the rankings, will jump into her match with Martina Trevisan this evening.
Markéta Vondroušová is not going to have it easy. Her opponent will be world No. 4 Ons Jabeur, who beat her at the Australian Open in January.
