From the point of view of a fan of our tennis players, we can evaluate the first day of the Australian Open positively. Out of the four representatives who presented themselves on Monday, three advanced to the second round and we can rejoice.

Katerina Siniakova did not make it through her match, but she was the only one of our representatives at the Australian Open during Monday. On the other hand, Markéta Vondrousová, Petra Kvitová or Jiří Veselý can rejoice in their progress.

Vondroušová needed three sets to win, she lost the first one, but in the next two she turned the balanced battle in her favour.

Jiri Vesely didn’t have an easy match either. He went through a five-set battle, but won it 3 to 2. He won the first set 6::4, lost the second set 3::6 and lost the third set in a tiebreak. However, he took the fourth and fifth sets 6:3 and went on to advance.

Petra Kvitová also managed to win her match and did not lose a set. Nevertheless, she faced a minor crisis. She won the first set 6::3, but in the second set she was down 0::3.

But she fought the crisis bravely, she didn’t collapse. She won the second set 6:4 and won the second set for herself.
