Kurt Zouma’s teammate has spoken out about the whole affair. He compared beating a pet to racism
A leaked video of Kurt Zouma being very aggressive with his cat is still resonating through England football. The French defender is part of West Ham, which has a Czech co-owner and also has three Czech national team players. After Zouma himself, the club is of course the most reviled by the British public.
A leaked video of Kurt Zouma being very aggressive with his cat is still resonating through England football. The French defender is part of West Ham, which has a Czech co-owner and also has three Czech national team players. After Zouma himself, the club is of course the most reviled by the British public.
The public is, of course, divided. Some would ban Zouma from playing football, others would only punish him more severely, others would let him play and think he has been punished enough.
Kurt Zouma, meanwhile, has lost his sponsorship deal with Adidas, had two weeks’ wages taken away by the club and had his pets taken away.
The French defender poured ashes on his head after the incident and apologised for his behaviour. The Hammers have distanced themselves from their stopper’s behaviour. Anyway, in the last league game against Watford, Zouma started in the starting line-up.
According to available information, Zouma will also travel for the next league match against Leicester. Both the club and the 27-year-old stopper are under huge pressure right now, which could affect West Ham’s performance.
Not many comments have been made by the club or teammates on the whole incident. But now Michail Antonio has spoken on camera. Take a look for yourself!
The West Ham forward basically didn’t talk at all about what he thought of his teammate’s transgression, but asked a reporter the question “Do you think what he did is worse than racism?”
“There are people who have been convicted of racism and then they play football, they get sentenced to eight games or something. But now people are calling for a much harsher punishment.”
“The question is whether what he did is worse than racism,” Antonio concluded his short interview.
Most fans in the debate wondered about the strange comparison. However, there are those who appreciate and understand Antonio’s reaction.
