The European Conference League qualification kicks off on Thursday, with Finland’s KuPS taking on Georgia’s Dila Gori in one of their matches. Sparta and Slavia start one round further on. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
KuPS has had a surprisingly good start to the league season. After ten rounds it is at the top of the table, with a three-point lead over second-placed Helsinki. Moreover, it has lost only one of its last nineteen games.
Dila Gori fought their way to third place in the table last season, despite not winning any of the last three rounds. They have not started their preliminary matches yet and will go into the Conference League undefeated.
Offensive midfielder Janis Ikaunieks is doing well in the home camp, the Latvian international scored twice and assisted twice. Forward Tim Väyrynen scored eight goals and assisted on one.
Twenty-one year old midfielder, team captain and Georgia U-21 international Nika Gagnidze shines in the away jersey, scoring three times and is considered the future of the national team. Experienced striker Tornike Kapanadze opened the net twice.
KuPS is not only not losing, it is not scoring goals. It has scored more than once in only one of its last nineteen games.
Dila, on the other hand, has scored nine goals in its last three competitive matches.
Considering the form of the visitors’ defence and especially the comfort in the home camp, I think KuPS will win and at least two goals will fall.
