He had a reputation as a troublesome player in his youth, not easy to get along with. This was confirmed even after his guest appearances, for example, he was returned from Teplice saying that they didn’t want to work with such a player.
But then the fateful coach Pavel Hoftych, who knew him from the national team, took Kuchta in Liberec and straightened him out. Kuchta shot to great performances in Slovan and earned a transfer back to Slavia.
Not many people believed in him before his engagement in Eden, but the hard-working footballer quickly became the number one striker. He was the prototype of the forward that Trpišovský was looking for. Hard-working, excellent at pressing, mobile and scoring goals.
However, after one and a half season Kuchta left for Lokomotiv Moscow, who were very interested in the Sešiv striker. But not long after that, the Russian Federation started a war in Ukraine and as a consequence Russia was practically cut off from Europe. This is having a knock-on effect on the world of sport, with Russian teams being knocked out of European cups, no one watching the domestic league and it is uncertain what the future holds for the funding of Russian teams.
It would therefore be advisable to leave Russia as soon as possible. And it almost looks like Kuchta wants to ask for a transfer by his performances in the national team. Because his performances in the first two games of the Nations League were top notch.
His relentless pressing is hugely dangerous for the opposition defence, plus he can make space for his teammates with his movement. And he has a unique eye for goal. Against Switzerland he scored a goal at the back post after a defensive error, but not many strikers would have headed into that space. His movement also contributed to the Czechs’ second goal, blocking Sommer’s kick once in a pressing situation and causing great alarm in the Swiss defence.
Against Spain, he continued his performance from Thursday. Very soon, he ran onto a pass from Coufal and unselfishly passed it to Pesek, who already had an easy task in front of an empty net.
In the second half, he headed at goal himself, but his left-footed shot went just wide of the bar. It didn’t make any difference in his mind, however, because when Kuchta headed alone at Simón for the second time, he chose an elegant lob to send the Czech Republic into the lead.
Kuchta has simply grown into a complete striker who would not be lost in the Top 5 leagues. Let’s hope he leaves Russia soon and plays for a much more famous team.
