Kucherov reached the 100-point mark for the fourth time in his career
In the New Jersey Devils vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (1:4), the scoring leader Nikita Kucherov of Russia excelled again. He contributed to all of his team’s goals, scoring one and passing the rest to his teammates. It was the 16th game this season in which he scored at least 3 points.
Another 4-point performance pushed him over the 100-point mark in his 59th game of the season. He is currently at 102 points on 38 goals and 64 assists. He is third in goals scored so far this season and is right behind Connor McDavid in assists.
In addition, he has already increased his lead over the chasing Nathan MacKinnon to six points. Kucherov has crossed that mark for the fourth time in his career in the last six seasons. In addition, he broke his own club record from the 2018/19 season, when he needed to play three more games to reach this mark.
What’s exceptional is that he played his fifth game with at least 4 points this season and it was always on the opponent’s ice. He also managed to do this in the aforementioned season. The record holder in this respect is Wayne Gretzky. He managed to do it even 7 times during one season on the opponents’ courts.
The ageless Crosby also scored 4 points
The Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers (7:6) turned into a wild shootout, with the home team’s captain Sidney Crosby contributing 4 points. The Penguins scored an important victory in the fight for the playoff position.
Crosby contributed 1 goal and 3 assists to his team’s victory. And he proved that age can’t stop him in the derby with Philadelphia. In his career, he played 87 games against this team, accumulating 129 points on 55 goals and 74 assists.
Crosby improved to 60 points in 55 games this season. He recorded 32 goals and 28 assists. In addition, Pittsburgh recorded a very important win. Not only did he beat his rival, but he reduced the gap to the playoff positions to 7 points. The last playoff spot is defended by Philadelphia.
