Krmencik on the scene again: He didn’t play a minute, yet he got a yellow card

Michael Krmenčík was once again the target of jeers from hundreds of fans on Thursday night. In the match against Feyenoord, he received a yellow card even though he did not play a single minute. How did this happen?

Before the match between Slavia and Feyenoord, there was a lot of talk about whether Michael Krmenčík or Jan Kuchta would start at the top of the attack. The former has the best ratio of points (goals+assists) to minutes played, while Kuchta is Slavia’s top scorer.

Surprisingly, the priority went to someone completely different, ex-Jablon striker Ivan Schranz. He had a day off before the national break due to a family tragedy, and he came on during the second half of Sunday’s game against his former employer.

Krmencik was supposed to come into the game after the change of sides, only to see his chance for a substitution reduced significantly in the 37th minute.

Guus Til badly brought down Nicolae Stancio in the middle of the park and the referee showed him a yellow card. This infuriated the national striker, he went to the linesman and forcefully told him his opinion on the situation.

Although the referee eventually reconsidered his decision and sent off Tila, Krmencik did not escape the penalty. Finnish referee Mattias Gestranius showed him a yellow card, which the bald striker accompanied with an ironic smile.

In an acrimonious match full of cards, Krmenčík’s rude behaviour cost him at least a few minutes, and Jindřich Trpišovský did not send him off at all.
