Nobody would have expected this! Daniel Křetínský, a Czech billionaire and the third richest Czech, plans to buy a stake in English West Ham, where three Czech footballers play.
The Athletic website reported this. In addition, Sky News has learned that Křetínský is now in talks to buy 27% of the club and the deal could be announced as early as next week.
That’s when the Hammers will take on the leaders with Liverpool. But the current owner of Sparta Prague would surely not be satisfied with just a minority stake.
Part of the deal would include an option to take full control of the club, but the timing of that transaction has not been specified.
The valuation of the club is valued at between £600m and £700m, which is equivalent to £18bn. However, its fortune is estimated by Forbes at 78 billion crowns.
The club is currently owned by David Gold and David Sullivan, who bought it in 2010. Coufal, Souček and Král could soon have a new Czech owner.
