Barbora Krejcikova is still recovering from her injury. She won’t be able to miss the rehearsal for Roland Garros in Strasbourg. However, she believes that she should start her comeback at the French Open.
The Moravian tennis player was last on the courts in the second half of February, when she played in Doha, Qatar, where she failed to win her second match of the tournament and fell to Jelena Ostapenko.
Since then, she has been sidelined by health problems as she has been nursing an injured elbow. It was expected that she would be able to finish the clay court season and warm up before the second Grand Slam of the season, but that is not going to happen.
Barbora Krejcikova won’t even be playing in Strasbourg, which is a dress rehearsal for Roland Garros. It starts on 22 May. It is worth mentioning that Krejcikova won the title in Strasbourg a year ago.
She then continued her trophy collection at the French Open, where she won both singles and doubles with her compatriot Kateryna Siniakova a year ago.
“Conditionally I am in good shape, we are fine-tuning our strokes and I believe that tennis-wise I could do it. I’m taking this long break badly, but the good thing is that my comeback is coming. But I can’t really say the exact date,” Krejcikova was quoted by Tenisportal.cz.
The 26-year-old Krejcikova added that she is definitely not taking this year’s Roland Garros as a peak, but rather as the beginning of her comeback. She believes that the highlights of this season are yet to come from her side.
Krejcikova is currently the world number two. She has won 9 matches this season and lost 4.
