Barbora Krejcikova will try to reach her second trophy in a row thanks to her improved form from the last time. After winning the title in Tallinn last week, she can also triumph at the AGEL Open. In the singles final of the WTA 500 tournament in Ostrava she will face the favoured Iga Świąteková. In addition, Kateřina Siniaková will fight for the doubles title at the parallel event in Monastir.

Krejcikova managed to turn around the unfavourable outcome of her clash with Jelena Rybakina in the semi-final on the hard court in Ostravar Arena. The tennis player from Kazakhstan won the first set 6:3, but then fell in the tiebreak 4:7 and lost the deciding set 4:6.

The native of Ivancice has a chance to win her second singles title this season. In the final match, however, she will face the toughest possible opponent, the leading woman in the WTA rankings.

Iga Świąteková can count on the strong support of the fans from neighbouring Poland in the third largest city in the Czech Republic. But in the semi-final duel, Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova, a long-time resident of the Czech Republic, resisted her for a long time. Nevertheless, the three-time Grand Slam champion dominated the three-set drama with 7:6, 2:6 and 6:4.

The highlight of the prestigious domestic tennis event is scheduled for Sunday at 14:30. The live coverage will be broadcast by O2 TV Sport and O2 TV Tennis. As an appetizer, viewers and fans of the white sport can enjoy the doubles final, in which American singles quarter-finalists Caty McNally and Alycia Parks will play against Poland’s Alicja Rosolska and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe from 12:00.

Doubles at the Jasmin Open in Monastir, Tunisia, could bring one more Czech delight. Krejcikova’s traditional teammate Kateřina Siniaková joined forces with Kristina Mladenovic at the lower-level WTA 250 tournament. The Hradec Kralove-born player will challenge the Japanese-American pair of Miju Katova, Angela Kulikova for the triumph from 15:30.

Before that, the singles finalists will play on the outdoor hard court in the 100,000-seat coastal resort in North Africa. Elise Mertens of Belgium and Alizé Cornet of France will battle it out for the top spot from 2pm.
