Kateryna Siniakova is first in the WTA doubles rankings, with her teammate Barbora Krejcikova trailing in second place by 325 points.
The world’s best pair was thus the biggest favourite at the Australian Open and they are meeting their predictions and targets to the letter.
The last defeat dates back to mid-October, when the Czechs fell in the Indian Wells quarter-finals to the pair of Kichenokova/Ostapenko, since then they have only been winning.
In Australia, they beat five pairs without losing a set and will challenge the Kazakh-Brazilian duo of Anna Danilina/Beatriz Haddad Maia in the final.
The duo have been playing together since early 2022 and have managed to win nine matches without defeat, even dominating the tournament in Sydney.
