Two duels with the Czech footprint are scheduled for 7 pm CET. Petra Kvitova will play with Anhelina Kalinin from Ukraine, Kateřina Siniaková with Alizé Cornet. The Frenchwoman knocked out defending champion Emma Raducanu in her opening appearance at this year’s US Open.

Later tonight, Linda Fruhvirt will take on her second round match. The 17-year-old successful qualifier will face world No. 10 Garbiñe Muguruza, Spain’s two-time Grand Slam champion.

The most interesting match of this phase of the tournament should come at approximately 9pm. In the Czech derby, Karolina Pliskova and Maria Bouzkova will battle it out for a place in the top 32.

The opening round of the doubles competition is also underway. Tereza Martincova and her Russian teammate Alexandra Panova lost to the Argentine-Egyptian pair Nadia Podoroska, Majar Sharif.

The third-seeded pair of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova are yet to start their journey to their sixth Grand Slam title together. They will face Romanian duo Monica Niculescu, Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the night matches.

After that, another purely Czech tandem should take the court. The newly formed duo of the experienced Lucie Hradecka and the talented Linda Noskova is preparing for an interesting duel. They will face the sisters Serena and Venus Williams.

On the other hand, domestic tennis is no longer represented in the men’s doubles bracket. Jiří Lehečka and Jiří Veselý lost to the Americans Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow. Moreover, Veselý then announced that he will miss the upcoming Davis Cup barrage match with Israel due to a thigh injury.

Lucie Hradecka will have a match in the mixed doubles tournament at the US Open on Friday. She and Poland’s Lukasz Kubot will face the eighth-seeded pair from the Netherlands, Demi Schuurs, Matwé Middelkoop.

Other matches on Thursday’s schedule are worth noting, such as the one between Fabio Fognini and Rafael Nadal. From the women’s singles, let’s mention the duel between the world number one Iga Świąteková and the local Sloane Stephens. Selected matches will be broadcast live on Eurosport 1 and 2.
