Krejcikova and Siniakova are in the final of the Australian Open! Junior Mensik is also in the semifinals
This is another great ride for Czech tennis players. Kateřina Siniaková and Barbora Krejčíková together dominated the French Open twice and Wimbledon once, but the Australian Open and the US Open are missing from their collection. Now they will have their chance.

The Czech tennis players didn’t have much room to rest, with only a day between the quarterfinals and semifinals. But they didn’t mind, they dominated the duel from the start.
In the first game they took the serve from the Kudermetova/Mertensova pair, and at 4-1 they managed to do it again. The Czechs took the first set to a successful end with a 6-2 score. The opponents did not drop their serve even once.
The second set was much more attractive. The Czechs lost their serve at 1-2 and the drama was over. But fortunately the break came and the score was 2-3 again. Krejcikova and Siniakova confirmed it with a game at 3-3, then they took away their opponents’ serve and it was 4-3.
They then managed the longest game of the match, which saw a break point and three rallies to increase to 5-3. In the last set, they took their opponents’ serve to win 6-3.
In the final, Krejcikova and Siniakova will take on the pair of Danilina/Haddad Maia. The duel at Rod Laver Arena is scheduled for Sunday, January 30 at 5 a.m.
Czech tennis may have a great future in Jakub Mensik. In the quarterfinals of the Australian Open juniors, he blasted Russia’s Demin 6-0 and 6-1 in just 54 minutes to advance to the semifinals.
Only 16 years old, the tennis player is showing fantastic performances at the Australian Open and the semifinals may not be his final. As the tournament’s number four, he will face the tournament’s number eleven Kilian Feldbausch.
