Krejci and the continuation of his career: the main attraction of the home World Championship! Return to Olomouc? Only under these conditions

Only a few days ago, David Krejci officially announced that he will definitely not continue in the NHL. Not only did he receive a great honor from his Boston teammates, but now the hockey public is already wondering where his next steps will lead. Will he end his career or will he still be in the league? And what could discourage him from staying in Olomouc?

Only a few days ago, David Krejci officially announced that he will definitely not continue in the NHL. Not only did he receive a great honor from his Boston teammates, but now the hockey public is already wondering where his next steps will lead. Will he end his career or will he still be in the league? And what could discourage him from staying in Olomouc?

Krejci is one of the greatest figures in our hockey history, having spent the vast majority of his career in Boston. However, according to the latest news, the Šternberk native will not continue in the NHL, as he has announced the end of his career in overseas competition via his club website and social media.

Krejci is a legend in Bruins history. He ranks fifth in games played or assists. He ranks 13th among Boston’s scorers and 11th in game-winning goals.

In his last season he collected 60 points in 74 games (including playoffs). In total, Krejci has played 1192 games in the NHL, including the playoffs, with 274 goals and 640 assists.

But now the question is where his next steps will lead. It should be noted that we have previously reported that Krejci, in considering whether or not to end his NHL career, was considering and making the number one priority to participate in the World Championship at home.

Therefore, the final end of Krejci’s career should not happen for another year at the earliest. The now former Bruins forward is strongly considering a European assignment, and according to Hokej.cz, Switzerland is also in the cards.

It should be added, Krejci has previously stated that he cannot play the entire season due to his health. So he is planning a possible return to the ice around December, so he can warm up and fight for a spot for the upcoming World Championship.

Olomouc? I have to think about the table…

So where will his next steps be? Mora fans would certainly like to see him in their team. Of course, Krejci himself knows that, too, and he calls Olomouc his home. But the 37-year-old forward would like to play for a club that will be in the playoffs for a long time.

“Olomouc is obviously in the game, but I need to look at the table, how it looks, who will play at the top. How will Olomouc do, or if I decide to go with a team I’ve played for in the past, if they’re interested. Then of course there are other teams from other European leagues, that’s up to the agent, once I’ve decided, let’s say around Christmas, in December, my agent will have something to do. We’ll see,” Krejci said in an interview with NHL.com.

Krejci also added that if he decides to continue playing, his goal will be the championship in Prague. He would like to close his rich hockey career in front of the Czech public. And of course, he would like to go as far as possible in the playoffs.

“I’m the kind of player that when I come back, I want to win, I want to play in the playoffs as long as possible, so we’ll decide accordingly. If Olomouc is in the top 3, there’s no question,” Krejci is clear.

If Krejci decides to prolong his career, other extra-league clubs are of course in the picture. He played twenty-four games in Pardubice during the NHL lockout in 2012 and Sparta was also very interested in his services.
