Kozák: Ferencváros spared players in the league because of Slavia, the whole Hungary is cheering for him. Will he root for Slavia?

Libor Kozák left Sparta for Hungary, where he plays for Puskás Academy. In the league he will chase Ferencváros, who will face Slavia in the third round of the Champions League. Who will the former Spartan be rooting for?

Libor Kozak plays his home games at Puskás Arena, where the Czech national team knocked out the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the Euro at the end of June.

Slavia, however, will be playing in the 22,000-seater Groupama Arena, where Hungarian league champion Ferencváros are playing.

How does Libor Kozák perceive the match against the biggest Hungarian club?

“I think Ferencváros knows who they are up against. It spared a lot of players in the first league match, even lost at home because of that. I’m sure the whole of Hungary will be cheering for him,” said the former Spartan striker in an interview with iDnes.

Slavia must first defeat Ferencváros on their way to the dream Champions League, and in the fourth round they would eventually face the winner of the Cluj – Young Boys Bern double-header.

The Hungarian champion has a very offensive team that is betting heavily on outplaying its opponents in terms of football quality. They don’t like the physical and running style of play that Slavia have under Jindřich Trpišovský. This could be an advantage for the Red and Whites.

Stanciu and co. will have to do without fans at the Groupama Arena, as no Czechs will be allowed into the stadium. And who will Kozak be cheering for in Budapest?

“I have not been with Sparta for long, but I have had some difficult and good times with them, so I consider myself a Spartan. And that’s the end of it,” Kozák said.
