Slavia won the fifth match of the group stage of the European Conference League, 1:0 against Ballkani from Kosevo. Ondřej Lingr scored the only goal of the match in the second half with a header.
Slavia had the first chance of the match in the sixth minute, but Peter Olayink’s centre was cleared by the home defence. Ballkani played nicely but without any shots, while in the 16th minute a great opportunity was thrown away by the active Olayinka.
The Sixers struggled in the midfield and it was not until the 27th minute that the speedy Nigerian Yira Sor got the first break, but his shot from an angle was inaccurate. Eight minutes later, Christ Tiehi shot behind the Kosovo champion’s net, but missed the ball perfectly.
At the end of the first half, the home side made their first response, but Ermal Krasniqi headed wide after a quick break. After the change of sides, the Slavs were active, but did not get into a shooting position.
In the 64th minute, Ewerton had a unique opportunity on the edge of the box, but from a direct kick he only headed into the defender. Ten minutes later, Slavia were celebrating. David Jurásek’s centre found Ondrej Lingr, who made no mistake with his header.
In the 90th minute, Ondřej Kolář made two excellent saves and the Red and Whites finally defended their 1:0 win.
Given Sivasspor’s win over Cluj, Slavia must have scored more points against Sivasspor in a week than Cluj and Ballkani did in the same week.
