Koeman is probably finished at Barcelona. Management is already looking for a replacement, but Xavi’s return is probably not yet happening

Roberto Martínez for Ronald Koeman? This swap is becoming more and more real every hour. After all, the media battle between the coach and the management could not have turned out any other way!

When Koeman came to Barcelona at the end of last summer, he often repeated that it was his dream come true. This example shows perfectly how things happen very, very quickly in football!

The Catalan team was an inflated bubble that was bound to burst sooner or later, that was clear to anyone who is a bit more interested in football, but the Dutch coach didn’t seem to want to see that happen.

Surely no one can blame him, because if Barcelona call you to coach them and you refuse, a second chance is unlikely to come and Koeman was aware of that too.

However, after a relatively solid season, the summer came and turned his dream into a nightmare and a war with the management that is settled through the media, which in almost every case ends with the coach being fired. This is exactly the scenario to expect in the days ahead.

Server Goal and other foreign media have now come out with the information that Barcelona is starting to inquire about the availability of several coaches. The first choice should probably be Martínez, who currently leads the Belgium national team.

By the way, a big favourite of Joan Laporte, who started thinking about hiring him immediately after taking the reins of the Catalan club.

Martínez himself has announced several times that he intends to stay with the Belgian national team until the World Cup next year in Qatar. Only, he has apparently turned around and will be available after the semi-final match against France in the Nations League, which will be played on October 7, or possibly on October 10 after the final or third-place match.

Apart from Martínez, there is still talk of Xavi, but there is probably still time for that option. In fairness, Martínez will come to do the black work, which should benefit Xavi later on in his spectacular return.

Whether that will actually be the case, the coming days will tell. However, Koeman’s days are numbered and can be reckoned with, whether it be in early October, January or at the end of the season.
